"My goal was to compose a work that was lively and interesting ... and I wanted the soloist to be able to show the emotional and technical range, and art of the violin ..." Alexander has told The Violin Channel.

"My idea was that each new melody represents a new feeling ... I want the performer to infect the listeners ... to entice them ... make them worry ... and experience the world as a stern and tragic place ... but also then tender and lyrically ... and, funny," he said.

"This concerto is not an easy task."
